Old and new Rhine

Yesterday I went up in the air in Germany for the Disputed Waters project.
This is the old river Rhine meandering along the canalized new Rhine.
This canalized Rhine is good for transportation, but can cause heavier floodings downstream.

The picture was made from an ultra light airplane, which was a bit hard to work from, because I had to photograph through a tiny hole in the window. But it was a lot cheaper than renting a helicopter …

It’s summertime, although the weather seems to think differently.

A good time to wander around and find places you would normally never go. Like to the annual “Waverfeest”, a farmers fair in the small village of Waver, just outside of Amsterdam.
